1. Information We Collect
We aim to collect only the information we need to provide our tools, respond to you, and improve the site. The categories of information we collect are:
Information you provide to us
- Contact information. When you sign up for updates, request a downloadable checklist or guide, or otherwise submit one of our forms, we collect your email address and any other details you choose to enter.
- Tool inputs. When you use a tool, you may enter information such as your cat's age, your location or ZIP code, sitting dates, or quiz answers. We use these inputs to generate your result. Where possible, our tools run in your browser and we do not need to store your inputs after your visit.
- Communications. If you email us or otherwise contact us, we keep a record of that correspondence and the information it contains so we can respond and improve our service.
Information we collect automatically
- Device and usage data. When you visit, our servers and analytics providers automatically record standard log information, including your IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser type and language, device and operating system, referring and exit pages, the pages and tools you interact with, and the dates and times of your activity.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We and our providers use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to keep the site functioning, remember your preferences, and measure how the site is used. See Cookies and Tracking Technologies below.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information (such as government identifiers, financial account numbers, or health information) through CatSitter.com, and we ask that you not submit it through our forms.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain CatSitter.com and its cat care tools and content;
- Generate and deliver the results, checklists, guides, and other resources you request;
- Respond to your questions, comments, and support requests;
- Send you newsletters, cat care tips, product news, and offers where you have asked to receive them or where otherwise permitted by law;
- Measure, analyze, and improve the performance, content, design, and usability of the site;
- Personalize your experience and remember your preferences;
- Protect the site and our users by detecting, preventing, and responding to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues; and
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms and agreements.
We may aggregate or de-identify information so that it no longer reasonably identifies you, and use it for any purpose, including analytics and improving our tools.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information only where we have a valid legal basis to do so. Depending on the situation, that basis is:
- Consent: for example, when you opt in to receive marketing emails or where required for certain cookies. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to operate, secure, and improve the site, and to understand how it is used, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Performance of a request: to deliver a resource or result you have asked us for.
- Legal obligation: to comply with applicable laws and lawful requests.
6. Third-Party Links and Services
CatSitter.com contains links to other websites and services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. When you follow a link to another site, that site's own privacy policy governs the information it collects. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping any credentials you use confidential.
8. Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy (including providing our tools and resources, sending communications you have requested, and improving the site) and to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it. If you have subscribed to our emails, we retain your contact information until you unsubscribe and for a reasonable period afterward to honor your request.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law and to verification of your identity, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Request deletion of your personal information;
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time; and

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
10. Notice to California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, to request access to and deletion of your personal information, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The categories of personal information we collect, our purposes for collecting it, and the categories of recipients are described in the sections above. To submit a request, contact us at [email protected]. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification.
11. Notice to EEA and UK Residents
If you are located in the EEA or the UK, you have the rights described in Your Privacy Rights above under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, and we process your information on the legal bases described in Legal Bases for Processing. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, although we encourage you to contact us first so we can address your concern.

CatSitter.com is operated in the United States, and the information we collect is processed and stored in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for international transfers. By using the site, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
13. Children's Privacy
CatSitter.com is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete it.
14. Email and Marketing Preferences
If you have subscribed to receive emails from us, you can opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing message, or by contacting us at [email protected]. Even if you opt out of marketing emails, we may still send you service-related or transactional messages, such as a resource you requested or a response to your inquiry.
